The John Mayer 30-Day Challenge!
I thought this would be fun for us all to do.

A rare live track from 2001. It’s been 11 years. Such a cool full band version.
JM - In Your Atmosphere
How have I not heard this before today? Love Love Love =)
This was my first song request to John well, after asking him to play The Gambler but that was more just to make him laugh than anything. It would be fun though wouldn’t it? Oh, then there was Life By the Drop as well. By the second one I’m pretty sure he knew I wanted to hear In Your Atmosphere more than any other song. After driving through the night and being stuck on the GW Bridge for a good two hours, I was still one of the first cars in the Jones Beach parking lot for the concert. While waiting I made a sign that said, where ever you go in charcoal with gold accent over the backdrop of a sunset. 13th Witness took pictures when they drove by in the Ben & Jerry’s truck.
How many times has John actually sang this song over the years? Maybe (hopefully) he has them is a safe somewhere because someday I would love to hear all of them in chronological order from earliest to most recent. Is that odd?
Looking back, I tried to choose one version from each song on the setlist. Some substitutions were made as in the case of Belief from Irvine since there is not a video from DTE in Michigan. Other inclusions like Eddie’s Attic were based on those shows that were either broadcast, streamcast or I just wanted to be at.

Some of the best photos from the Battles Studies Tour were shot by the Tumblr who captured this image. Hopefully she will be around for the next tour.
“Oh man, I care a lot about what people think… I mean, I have a guitar, like—I picked up a guitar because of an emotional void. And I still have an emotional void, and only in the last year have I learned to be honest about it. I play the guitar and I write songs because there are things I can’t get otherwise that other people who are more well adjusted can just kind of get, you know. And I have a void that I fill by writing songs and being on stage and playing guitar, you know. And at least I’m honest about it.”

What one question would you like to ask John Mayer?
I used to have several questions and have been fortunate enough to have been able to ask him, so I had no other questions… until today.
I would like to know, if he was to teach someone guitar, would he rather teach someone who is already great at playing guitar and teach them how to improve, or teach a novice who knows nothing and start from scratch in teaching them?
Watching him play inspired me a 36 year old with no aspiration of guitar playing or singing for that matter outside the typical jam out in the car behavior to crave this guitar playing ability. Heck, I even bid a ridiculous amount of money for a guitar signed by him which I would have stupidly played instead of just hanging it on the wall. Most of you probably understand what I’m talking about here but last year, I asked him to teach me Who Says in a weekend. If I could ask for only one birthday gift for the rest of my life, this is it.
